Standards:SAF 2205 ASTM A789 / A790 Grade(UNS):S32205 Type:Duplex Stainless steel
SAF 2205 stainless steel is composed of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum, and 4.5% nickel nitrogen alloy. It has high strength, good impact toughness, and good stress resistance.
The yield strength of SAF 2205 duplex stainless steel is more than twice as high as that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel. This feature can reduce the weight of use, which makes this alloy more cost-effective than 316 and 317L. This alloy is particularly suitable for the temperature range of – 50 ° f / + 600 ° F.
This alloy can also be considered for applications beyond this temperature range, but there are some limitations, especially when applied to welded structures.

SAF 2205 stainless steel can be cut and cold-formed.
But, because of its high strength and hardness, this duplex stainless steel needs more cold forming than austenitic steel. Because of its high strength, the spring back factor should be considered.
2205 stainless steel will be annealed at a minimum temperature of 1900 ° f followed by rapid cooling and water quenching.
This treatment is applied to solution annealing and stress relief. Stress relief treatment at temperatures below 1900 ° f can result in the precipitation of harmful metallic or nonmetallic phases.
The feed rate and cutting speed of SAF 2205 stainless steel are the same as that of 316L stainless steel.
If a carbonization knife is used, the cutting speed is reduced by about 20% compared with 316L stainless steel.
Duplex stainless steel is a kind of stainless steel composed of ferrite and austenite. The ferrite content is about 50%, and the austenite content is about 50%. This kind of steel has the characteristics of both austenitic stainless steel and ferritic stainless steel.
Duplex stainless steel pipe is one of the main products of our company. It has good corrosion resistance and welding performance. Widely used in steel, smelting, petroleum, chemical, marine equipment and other industries.
Duplex stainless steel has almost twice as much yield strength as austenitic stainless steel, excellent corrosion resistance and weldability, and is widely used in various fields. Read more about the properties of duplex stainless steel
